As a Cost Planner, you’ll play a key role in the successful delivery of tenders and projects by preparing accurate cost estimates, assisting with feasibility studies, and working closely with the design and project teams. This role offers a strong pathway to senior roles and is ideal for someone with a solid grounding in cost planning within the commercial construction space.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review cost plans across concept, schematic, and detailed design stages
- Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates
- Participate in feasibility studies and value engineering exercises
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain up-to-date pricing
- Assist with tender preparation, including BOQ development and cost breakdowns
- Monitor and update cost databases and benchmarking tools
- Collaborate with design and construction teams to ensure budgets and scope are aligned
- Identify cost risks and provide mitigation strategies
- Attend client and consultant meetings as required
Your background:
- 3–5 years of experience in cost planning within the commercial construction industry
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or similar
- Strong understanding of construction processes, methods, and market rates
- Proficient in cost planning software (e.g. CostX, Cubit, Excel)
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
